Squeak, Squeak

Since our move into the new house we've kept Riley, our cat, inside. He finally got out on Sunday evening when we weren't looking and promptly disappeared. We figured he'd wander around to check out the new neighborhood but were very worried that he'd get lost since he was in unfamiliar territory. That seems to be exactly what happened. He didn't show up Sunday night by the time we went to bed and was nowhere to be found on Monday morning. I took Monday off from work to help unpack and went with Elaine to pick up Nathan and Mary-Kensley from their day camp. On the way home we drove through the neighborhood with the car windows down, calling Riley's name, hoping he might hear us or we might see him somewhere. At one point Mary-Kensley was saying, "Squeak, squeak!" I asked her why she was saying that. She said she was pretending she was a mouse because she knew Riley liked "mouses." We drove and drove but never saw him.

We started to figure that maybe he was lost and gone for good, but he showed up at the door on Tuesday morning to our great surprise. We were all very happy to see him again.
