Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight. PROVERBS 3:5-6

This video always makes us laugh because of Nathan's keen sense of smell

A Picture Is Worth A Thousand Words

It is not hard to remember what that morning was like ... fear followed by great sorrow. Sometimes I don't think we as a nation see these pictures enough. Just to remember the tragedy of that Tuesday morning.

Swollen Ankle

It's not too bad. It is swollen and I'm limping for sure. One side is swollen pretty bad, the other is bruised. Ouch!

Yikes! Broken ankle

I played my third season of co-ed softball for our church team this summer. Today we did well in the playoffs, winning 3 games and losing 2. After each game we had a break while two other teams played. The picture above is a few minutes after a girl on one of those teams came sliding into home and broke her ankle. It was really bad. The crack was audible as the bone broke. She was screaming in pain. Her foot was turned around backwards. Oh man! That had to hurt so bad. I'm sure she will need several months of rehab. If you get a second, say a prayer for her.

I actually hurt my ankle during the first game and probably came close to breaking it, but, luckily, I only turned it really, really bad. It hurt. I slid (poorly!) into second base and caught my left foot on the base and my body slid up over the top, turning my foot very awkwardly. I tried walking it off but finally had to sit and let the pain subside. For a few minutes I thought I was going to throw up it hurt so bad. At least I didn't cry! But, it ended up just being very sore, and I played in all of the other games.

Now, softball season is over, as is the summer (almost).

Privatization

Like any good conservative, I thought privatizing my blog was the best idea. Actually, a good friend mentioned how much information I had on here about the kids and said that I should make it private. What a good idea.

Baseball

I bought this visor at http://www.cubworld.com/ on Sunday. I'm waiting for it to get here.

I'm watching the 2008 All Star Game right now ... at 1:21AM! They are just starting the 15th inning. This will at least tie the longest All Star Game ever (1967). I'm hoping the NL wins so in case, just in case (), the Chicago Cubs

make the World Series, they'd have home-field advantage. We'll see. Right now, it kind of looks like it will end in a tie. I have no idea what the tie-breaker is. ... Nope. AL wins. Maybe next year.

My Sister Is In First Place?!

Out of the 10 people playing in our 2008 NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament Bracket, my sister is in FIRST PLACE after the first two rounds. She has lost one of her Final Four teams (UConn) but has 7 teams still alive for the Elite Eight. I'm really stunned by this. Especially since she picked the tie-breaker point total of 71 for the Championship Game because she wasn't sure what that meant. Amazing! Congratulations, Andi. You are AWESOME!

Rank Name Score
1 Andi 49
2 Brad 46
2 Ryan 46
4 David 45
4 Trevor 45
6 Del 44
7 Elaine 42
8 Caleb 40
9 Tim 37
10 Sarah 35

# 1 Goes Down

And ... we lost. We played tough tonight but it looked like we didn't have enough left after the Memphis (26-1) game to turn around and beat a ranked Vandy (24-4, 9-4) team in Memorial Gym. Kentucky (15-10, 9-3) comes to Knoxville on Sunday only a game back of TN (25-3, 11-2) now in the SEC East (assuming they beat Ole Miss. this week). The KY game is now huge!

Go Vols!

What? No New Pictures ...

I have been very busy at work lately and, yes, Olivia, Nathan and Mary-Kensley are keeping us busy, as well. So, not much time for pictures or new posts. Plus, it doesn't help that Mary-Kensley accidentally broke our camera. We've got a new one, though, so we should be back in business soon.

I'm watching my newly-annointed #1 Volunteers play against #14 Vanderbilt right now. We're down 51-57 with 8:59 left in the 2nd half. I don't know how to spell the anxiety I'm feeling right now. We're only 2 games ahead of Kentucky in the SEC East and have not won an outright SEC regular-season title in 41 years. Hopefully we can ... now we're down 53-59. Come on, Vols!

National Radio Astronomy Observatory

I'd love to take the kids to this giant radio telescope in Green Bank, WV, when they get a bit older. I think it would be cool!
